Having a cold smoothie in the middle of a hot summer is so refreshing. This raspberry hemp almond butter smoothie comes together to form a thick, satisfying, slightly sweet and tart smoothie. It’s a perfect way to celebrate those red summer raspberries.
Raspberries are in full swing in the summer, not only making it the perfect time to create raspberry delights, but also to get the most out of their nutrient profile.
Ingredients
- Raspberries- The summer berry that’s slightly tart, yet sweet, creates a solid flavor base for this smoothie. Those plump, deep red, summer raspberries out on your raspberry bush just waiting to be picked are perfect for this smoothie. Fresh ripe raspberries that are washed well, then put in the freezer are preferred. The flavors are much more pronounced when raspberries are ripe and in season.
- Banana- Ah, the perfect base fruit for any smoothie. Frozen bananas make thick and sweet smoothies.
- Hemp hearts- For added nutrients and slight crunch.
- Almond Butter- Perfect for adding a nutty dose of protein to the mix.
- Greek Yogurt- Not only does it also contain protein for satiety, but also adds creaminess to the smoothie.
- Cinnamon- Let’s be honest, it makes everything better!
- Liquid of choice- Assists in blending everything together.
Instructions
Rinse the raspberries and slice banana into chunks. Place both in the freezer for a few hours till frozen or overnight.
Combine all ingredients in the blender and blend till smooth.
Top with extra hemp hearts, raspberries, or a drizzle of almond butter if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Hint: If your blender is having a hard time blending ingredients, let the fruit sit for a few minutes to slightly thaw before blending.
Substitutions
- Almond Butter- replace with other nut or seed butters.
Equipment
I find that using a high speed blender works best to make thick smoothies and smoothie bowls. However, any blender will do! It may be necessary to make liquid adjustments based on your blender.
Top tip
Using frozen fruit creates a thick smoothie, which I love! If you prefer a more liquid smoothie, don’t freeze the fruit and/or use more liquid when blending.
