From nutty and sweet, to thick and delicious, the cashew date smoothie is wholesome and satisfying. Cashews, dates, oats, cinnamon and more blend together to create a smoothie that will fuel you all day long. This smoothie is perfect year round! The flavor pairings never get old.
Ingredients
- Cashews- A nut that blends well and is filled with healthy fats that will satiate you. Add chopped up cashews on top of your smoothie for a satisfying crunch!
- Bananas- Use them frozen, and your smoothie will be thick, sweet, cold, and delicious.
- Almond milk- We used unsweetened almond milk (the smoothie is sweet enough), but you can use any milk you prefer.
- Oats- I love using oats in smoothies. They add to the thickness and texture, and sneak in some whole grains at the same time. We used sprouted rolled oats.
- Dates- I also love using dates in smoothies! I think the sweet caramel flavor pairs well with any smoothie, not to mention a great way to add fiber.
- Cinnamon- Probably one of my favorite spices. Cinnamon makes everything better.
- Salt- It enhances the flavor of food, and in this smoothie, just a pinch makes the flavors shine.
- Cacao nibs- I love a good ol’ crunch on top of my smoothies. And it’s chocolate, need I say more?
Instructions
- Combine cashews, bananas, oats, dates, almond milk, cinnamon, salt, and ice in a high speed blender.
- Blend till smooth. Pour into glasses and enjoy immediately!
Hint: Breaking the frozen bananas into chunks can assist in the blending process.
Variations
- Try different nuts! Peanuts, almonds, pecans, or walnuts would also be delicious. Some nuts may be more difficult to blend than others.
Equipment
A high powered blender is recommended for this smoothie. However, if you don’t have one, try adding more milk to thin out the smoothie and assist with blending, and scraping/mixing the smoothie periodically in the blending process to help it come together.
Storage
Smoothies don’t always store well. Good thing they are super quick to make. It’s best to enjoy fresh!
Top Tip
If you want your smoothie to stay cool longer, place a few glasses in the freezer for awhile. Once the smoothie is ready, pour into chilled glasses and enjoy an extra cold treat. 🙂
